GEARS UP FOR THE “SUNSHINE BEYOND SUMMER” – THE DAY PARTY WITH A PURPOSE

Annual summer celebration marks its 10th year with the launch of the Reed For Hope Foundation

LOS ANGELES (August 27, 2012) – Emmy® Award-winning casting director and talent executive Robi Reed is gearing up for her 10th annual end-of-summer event, the “Sunshine Beyond Summer” (SBS) Celebration – The Day Party With A Purpose, which will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at a private location in Los Angeles, California. As one of the most highly-coveted invites in the entertainment industry, Reed brings together a select, diverse group of movers and shakers, ranging from Hollywood’s ‘It List’ to close friends, colleagues and associates, for a fundraiser unlike any other.
The event will be co-hosted by model Selita Ebanks, actor/host Terrence J (“Think Like A Man”) and actress/comedienne Kym Whitley (NBC’s “Animal Practice”). Grammy® Award-nominated singer Ledisi and 2012-2013 RFHF Teen Awareness Initiative Ambassadors, actress/singer Keke Palmer and singer Sean Kingston, will be the special musical performers. The Honorable Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles, is scheduled to make an appearance at the festivities. Invited celebrities and notables include Denzel Washington, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Angela Bassett, Jamie Foxx, Serena Williams, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Regina King, Hill Harper, Cedric the Entertainer, Niecy Nash, Tyrese Gibson, Mekhi Phifer, Eva Longoria, Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Blair Underwood, and Shaun Robinson, among others.

This year, Reed will launch her non-profit organization, the Reed For Hope Foundation (RFHF), which aims to raise awareness, gather resources, and build alliances with other charities and organizations in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. RFHF will also support women’s and children’s health initiatives. Through education, their hope is to make the world a healthier place to live.  The charitable beneficiary of the 2012 SBS Celebration is the Black AIDS Institute. Additionally, Reed will recognize honorees at the event, with special awards being presented to Phill Wilson (Black AIDS Institute), Sonya Lockett (BET’s Rap-It-Up campaign), Jennifer Hopson (American Heart Association), Cynthia Carey- Grant (Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Disease), and the Honorable Judge Greg Mathis.

“Philanthropy has been a part of my fabric from the very beginning. This event began as a desire to bring together colleagues and friends to party with a purpose. To be at this milestone, celebrating the 10th year,  as well as the start of my Foundation is a dream come true,” said Reed.
